Losing themselves into the maze created
by the backstreets of an ancient city,
where light created art on decaying walls,
where running children offering empty hands,
elder men proudly exposing few teeth,
where crushed bones,
starving cats,
unknown fragrances,
filled this instant,
they felt human again.
The sense of superiority
created by their previous life had vanished.
When they would find their way out
had no importance.
Holding hands they disappeared,
in a dark and dusty store
where time had stopped
and tea was served. |
